Smoking methamphetamine is pretty much the most popular method throughout most of North America now. Normally, a glass pipe ("gak," "stem,") is used, or some type of makeshift device will be used such as a light bulb.

The term "pizzo" has many definitions, but in the world of methamphetamine, it refers to the glass pipe used for smoking crystal meth, . These pipes are referred to by the stores that sell them as "oil burners," "mystic vases," or "the rose." Often they have a flower inserted in them, which enables the store owner to get around the legal hassles in selling them.

But when you walk into a store and ask for an "oil burner," trust us, whether they sell them or not, they probably know you're either talking about either a crack pipe, or a meth pipe. Although meth pipes and crack pipes are different. Meth liquifies when heated, and it's necessary to see it as you're smoking it.

These glass pipes sell for between three and twelve dollars and the profit margin is very high as they're usually made very inexpensively in India or China. Meth pipes and inhalers are also referred to as a "stem" in some regions.

Onset Of The High With This Method And Unique Considerations

Using this method of taking meth, the drug is heated up until it becomes gaseous or converted to smoke then inhaled deeply ultimately entering the bloodstream via the user's lungs. The onset of the meth high with this method of ingestion is extremely fast, averaging between 8 and ten seconds before the high is felt, and it's an intense high.

Usually, when meth is smoked, the user tends to consume more of it than by other methods. Combine that with the fact that it's a quicker onset for the high and the high is more intense, and you don't need to be a wizard to realize this is a terrific way to become addicted to meth fast.

If you have breathing problems, asthma, emphysema, or other respiratory problems, smoking meth is certainly not going to help. But to be perfectly honest, if you get yourself addicted to meth, you won't care about your lungs, or for that matter, anything else. The problem is, once you're an addicted meth user, you won't seek professional help for anything, because you're constantly in a state of semi, or full paranoia.

Another danger with this method of ingestion is that if you're smoking meth that's much purer than you're used to, it's potentially going to be a rough ride, and there isn't much you can do about it, because once you take the hit, that's it - you're committed and there's no turning back. So if your meth dealer decided to add some surprise ingredients or cutting agents, well....good luck, cause' you're going to need it.

Anal Insertion Of Methamphetamine (also known as "Booty Bumping" "Keistering" )

Try as we might, we just couldn't find a suitable picture for this method of ingesting meth, symbolic or otherwise. But you'll get the idea if we simply tell you that with this method of ingestion, you're giving yourself a "meth enema." This method is preferred by some because it has a relatively fast onset as the inside of the rectum is full of capillaries by which the meth enters the bloodstream quickly. Also, with this method you're by-passing the stomach, so nausea is less of a factor.

Some will put meth in a gelatin pill and insert it like a suppository, but the onset will be fairly slow. A more popular method of taking meth anally, is as we said, the "meth enema," where the meth is mixed with water, put into a syringe (with the needle removed) and injected through the anus.

Onset Of The High With This Method And Unique Considerations

You'll begin to feel the high with this method usually in under five minutes. There are some cautions to be observed with this method. First of all, this method of ingesting meth is highly prevalent within the gay community. It's not exclusive to the gay community, but from what we can gather, it's far more prevalent there than anywhere else.

So if you're planning on being the recipient (bottom) during anal sex after you've anally ingested meth, be aware that meth is a form of hydrochloride salt and is both corrosive and abrasive. Putting this substance in an extremely tender area of your body can cause trauma to the inner rectal membrane including tearing, inflammation, irritation and bleeding. That means you and your partner might bleed and as a result, drastically increase your chances of contracting a sexually transmitted disease. Even if your partner is wearing a condom, it's more likely to break because as we said, methamphetamine has a corrosive quality.

Obviously, the most prudent suggestion would be not to ever engage in this type of meth use because it's dangerous. But if you must, make sure you use clear, clean water to mix the meth and wear a condom. Don't share any "apparatus" or "tools" with anyone else and make sure everything is as clean and sanitary as possible.

Next, we'll examine the last two methods of ingesting meth, "hot-railing" meth, also known clinically as "nasal insufflation" of methamphetamine, and injecting methamphetamine.
