The truth is, most "goal-setting" programs are boring, and if that wasn't bad enough, most don't work. And that's because among other things, before you decide what you can do and what you want to do in your life, you have to eliminate what you can't do and deep down inside, what you know you won't do.

And that's exactly where “Dreams To Reality - Goal Setting In Recovery" begins. We begin by getting everything off the table that you can't do, and you won't do. You might think that would be a downer, but it's not - it's incredibly liberating. Because once you remove all that mental clutter, all the "could-haves," "would-have's," and "should-haves," you will not believe how much energy and time you'll have left to really laying out a game-plan as to where you want to take your life. Goal-setting isn't rocket science, but for it to be effective, it has to be enjoyable, you have to see results, and it has to become a habit.

Moreover, for people in recovery, it's absolutely essential that you constantly have something to look forward to. If you become stagnated, just living in the tedium of day-to-day, you're setting yourself up for a fall. With nothing to look forward to, nothing to plan for, nothing to work toward, you begin looking backwards at the past. And for most of us in recovery, that past wasn't too pretty.
