Introduction

"We are what we repeatedly do, and we get what we think about the most.  Excellence and achievement are not 'secrets,' nor are they events -- they're habits."

It's true.  Success in life has nothing to do with so-called "secrets" or "special information."  It's about what we repeatedly do over and over again, what we make a priority, and what we think about the most.  Yet each year, people spend trillions of dollars trying to discover the "secrets" to success for losing weight, getting in shape, quitting smoking, making a fortune on the stock market, becoming a real estate tycoon, developing better self-esteem, learning how to set goals, so on and so on and so on.

And the truth is, there really are no "secrets."  People who are in shape have made a habit and lifestyle of eating properly and exercising regularly.  PERIOD.  And people who make millions in real estate don't make it because they went to a seminar and learned a "secret."  What they did was make it the number one priority in their life and despite rejection, setbacks and just plain bad luck, they kept doing the hard things that unsuccessful people are unwilling to do.  And they kept doing it until it became a habit and a natural part of their lifestyle.

And So It Is In Recovery From Addiction

If you're in recovery from some form of addiction, you know all about the power of habits from your own personal experience.  In order to be a full-fledged addict or alcoholic, it takes work, it takes making your addiction your number one priority and eventually, it's pretty much all you think about, every hour, of every day.  Nobody just rolls out of bed one morning and instantly decides to become an alcoholic or an addict - it takes practice!

The Difference Between Habits

Unfortunately, negative, destructive habits are easier to create and harder to break, while positive, constructive habits are harder to create and easy to break.  But one thing is for sure.  To permanently rid yourself of a negative destructive habit like addiction, among other things, not only do you have to stop it, you have to replace it with constructive habits.  One thing is certain - you can't just leave an empty space there - it just doesn't work that way.

So you'll notice that with the exception of "The Big Words In The Big Book," (which is a product) all of our programs for people in recovery are conducted via email over a minimum period of twelve weeks.  And in each program, you have a daily, weekly, and monthly objective that you work towards a little bit each day, and only for a few minutes.

And the idea is that when you keep doing it - week after week, it becomes a habit and a part of your lifestyle.  So while each program will give you great information, and terrific techniques, we'll be the first to tell you there are no "secrets."  It just takes knowing the right things to do, knowing what works and what doesn't, and then most importantly, doing it over and over again until it's a habit.

So if you're looking for "secrets" and magic "shortcuts" to staying clean and sober and creating a great life, we can't help you because there are no secrets and shortcuts.  Simply not using or not drinking anymore is not enough - they were just the symptoms of the problem.  You have to work on those areas of life that are responsible for most addicts and alcoholics to continue using and drinking despite what eventually becomes nothing but negative outcomes.

So the programs below offer a fairly straightforward proposition.  Do exactly what's asked of you in the program (or more) and it will work for you.  Do anything less than what's asked of you in the program, and you will be throwing your money away.  Sorry, but that's just the truth.

What you find below are simply the areas of life that we ourselves worked on to remain clean, sober, happy and functional.  And the average length of sobriety or "clean time" at All Positive Options is almost nine years.  In effect, we're our own testimonial to the fact that "our programs work, when you work our programs." And we look forward to working with you.

Note:  During the week of Monday March 31st, 2008, we will be adding a new series of programs to our Products & Programs Section called "Bridges To Recovery."  The programs comprising this powerful new series are: "At The Crossroads," "Jump-Start To Recovery," "Recovery At Home,"  & "Positive Strategies For Minimizing Relapse."  Full descriptions of all programs will be on the site by the end of that week, so please check back.

Some Facts & Figures About Our Programs

Some Facts:

While we "charge" for these programs and the AA dictionary, don't confuse that with "profit-making."  "The Big Words In The Big Book" dictionary is distributed at, or a few cents above our cost of producing it.  And while we charge for programs above and beyond the free time allotment we offer to anyone that needs help, when you calculate the amount of time we spend with each client subscribing to a program, against the price we charge for the program, you quickly become aware that profit is not the main motive.

We also believe that pound for pound, the programs offered by our organization are the finest of their kind in the world - period.  Not only do they incorporate the collective wisdom gathered from thousands of years of successful recovery, they also utilize the latest and most current science and research regarding addiction and recovery.  Frankly, this is why we are a reference source for so many organizations, agencies and individuals throughout the world.  About 75% of all of our time is spent compiling research and synthesizing information.

Some Figures:

Once someone has completed one of our programs, we ask them to rate the program (anonymously) on the basis of content, delivery and how effective it was at addressing the original issue.  Over the past eighteen months, our programs have received an overall rating of "excellent" in all three areas from 96% of the people who have gone through them.  We have never received a rating of less than "very good" from anyone who has ever taken a program since we began offering them.

In addition, almost 90% of people that take one of our programs sign up for another one within 30 days of completion of the first one.  We feel that's probably the best testament to the fact that our programs work, and frankly, we put a tremendous amount of work into making sure they do.

Finally, we've frequently been asked what the percentage is of men versus women that take our programs.  Bearing in mind that some people take our programs under an "anonym" or assumed name, we can't be 100% sure.  But looking at the people who have taken any of our programs and who told us their gender, then females out-number males by a factor of three to one.  Perhaps this proves conclusively that just like women have been saying all along, "men don't like asking for directions!"  But perhaps the trend is changing.  When we first started conducting programs, virtually every subscriber was female.

If you have any questions concerning any aspect of our programs, please use the contact page and we'll get back to you promptly.
