"The 'self-image'" is the key to human personality and human behavior.

Change the self-image and you change the personality and the behavior."

Title:  "Who Do You Think You Are?" - Creating An Empowering Self-image In Recovery

Format:  Weekly Via Email - 12 Weeks In Length

Designated Audience:  Anyone, in or out of recovery interested in improving your self-image.

Our self-image is an internal picture of who and what we really think we are. It's actually the sum total of our sense of self-esteem, or as in the case of most people in recovery, lack of self-esteem.  Wrong or right, accurate or inaccurate, whatever self-image you have inside of yourself determines everything about what your life experience will be like. If our self-image is telling us that we're fat and always will be, no matter how many diets we go on, no matter how hard we try, even despite how much weight we actually lose, we'll eventually return to what our internal self-image is telling us.

Alignment & Synchronicity

As a result, the only lasting change we can make to ourselves is when it's in alignment or "synch" with the internal picture or self-image we have inside.  And if it's in conflict, it will be rejected.  And that's precisely one of the reasons that so many people who want to remain clean and sober don't.  As far as their self-image, or the "internal picture" they have of themselves is concerned, they are unworthy and undeserving of the "good life."  Their self-image is literally dictating that despite their efforts to the contrary, they are a hopeless addict and/or alcoholic and they are incapable of staying clean and sober.

Self-image Is Foundational

It's no coincidence that about three out of four people in recovery from addiction have a horrible self-image, and this is one of the major reasons why such a huge percentage of people in recovery fail - sometimes repeatedly.  Trying to better yourself and improve your life without creating an empowering self-image is like putting a fresh coat of paint on a house with a faulty foundation.  It'll look nice on the outside, but ultimately it's going to fall to the ground.  Obviously a poor self-image isn't the only reason for failure in recovery, but it's definitely one of the fundamental reasons "underneath" a lot of other reasons.

Unfortunately for many, much of their self-image is formed by how they compare themselves to others, and to what the media portrays as the "ideal image."  But in both cases, you're comparing yourself to a false image, especially the image the media suggests you should be shooting for.  Here's an example, from the famous "Dove Makeover."  This video will show you just how much of what you see everyday is a complete illusion.

"Who Do You Think You Are?" - Creating An Empowering Self-image In Recovery is designed to make yourself ask reasonable, yet empowering questions about yourself that will enable you to see the proper self-image you should have.  And guess what?  It won't make you perfect, it won't make you Superman, or SuperWoman, but it will put your faults, your imperfections, and your weaknesses in proper context, and that's 95% of the battle in creating and maintaining a new, empowering self-image.  Self-image, like self-esteem comes 95% from the inside and about 5% from the outside feedback you get, if you're approaching it in the right way.

You should also note that the new self-image you create in this program is really the sum total of whatever level of self-esteem you have.  So while your self-image is the picture you have of yourself, your self-esteem are the actual "materials" that are used to create that picture.  To this end, it's highly recommended that before signing up for this program, you have already completed the program on self-esteem.  It will make it far easier.
